Robert has been cast in principal and recurring roles in over 100 television shows.
He has worked with many of the industry’s most successful producers such as George Schenck and Frank Cardea, directors such as Jimmy Burrows, and has shared the camera with numerous award-winning actors.
His career as an actor spans over three decades beginning in New York with scores of performances in off-Broadway musicals, straight plays and satirical revues to roles in television, films and Equity theatres on the West coast.
It was director, teacher and Tony Award-winning actor Charles Nelson Reilly who, impressed with Robert’s talent and insights, encouraged him to establish Robert Hanley Actors Studio (RHAS) where, for 18 years, actors, writers, directors and other industry professionals sought his creative advice.

“The best advice I ever heard about acting is, ‘Don’t get caught at it.’
And the best way to do that is to be yourself.”
—Robert Hanley
Throughout his life and career, Robert has been asked to speak on a variety of subjects. One of them is the subject of acting and the various aspects of life that an individual encounters in and around show business.
As an invited guest, he has spoken at a number of institutions of higher learning such as Pepperdine University, (Malibu); entertainment industry-related organizations such as The Writers Guild of America, West (Beverly Hills); as a guest teacher, at the long-running, highly reputable acting institute HB Studio in New York.
The television show Extra has used him as an acting expert on various occasions.
Initially, it was director, teacher and Tony Award-winning actor Charles Nelson Reilly who, impressed with Robert’s talent and insights, encouraged him to establish Robert Hanley Actors Studio (RHAS) where, for 18 years, actors, writers, directors and other industry professionals sought his creative advice.
Based on Uta Hagen’s theories at HB Studio, Robert personally taught and honed aspects of the acting craft to all levels of actors.
